Testudo's Tips!

  • Most full-time college students (78%) do NOT use illegal drugs.
  • Sanctions for violating the University drug and alcohol policy can lead to expulsion.

CHAPTER SUMMARY:

It is impossible to ignore the presence of drugs and alcohol on college campuses today. While the legal drinking age remains to be 21-years-old, and most do not reach that age until their senior year, college students across the country continue to participate in heavy drinking.

Drugs, both legal and illegal, remain a strong force on college campuses. Both the availability and social stigma for drugs is changing, and for the worse.

The University of Maryland has rules and regulations regarding students and drug and alcohol use with strict punishments attached.
